POKEFUSION! IT’S MORPHIN’ TIME!
Hm, figuring out shape and posture for this one character.
Quite a nice sunset tonight.
Some character design head sketches…
I hate FFXI and FFXIV purely for the fact that they are in the main, numbered Final Fantasy titles. I don’t think they deserve to be in the main series simply because they are MMORPGs and therefore not like the rest of the series.
>FFXI is SE’s biggest cash cow
>FFXIV is being focused on by SE
>yfw no more VII remakes or spinoffs
>being this anally anguished
0/10 trolling, try again
This pisses me off to no end. FFXI and FFXIV “shouldn’t be in the main series” solely because they’re MMOs? I’ve also heard that “They’re not REAL Final Fantasy games” or some other bullshit like that. And the fact that this guy hates them JUST because of that fact is a little ridiculous, not to mention narrow-minded and a bit blind if you ask me.
FFXI and FFXIV are just as much Final Fantasy games as the rest of the series. I play both, I enjoy both, and they both seem like Final Fantasy games to me. Yeah, they’re MMOs. But what makes them any less of a Final Fantasy game, dude? There’s still awesome plot, if that’s what you want. The classic abilities and spells (I’m lookin’ at you, -ga tier spells) are still there. Classic mobs, classes and the like are still there if that’s what bothers you. The only difference I’ve noticed between FFXI/FFXIV and the main series is just the fact that they’re MMOs. That’s about it. Nothing else really stands out. They’re still Final Fantasy games and, although I can agree that just calling them “Final Fantasy Online” or some variant would definitely work, they’re still just fine being in the main numbered series.
If MMOs aren’t your thing, that’s fine. I get that. Good for you, even. I know plenty of people that don’t really like or play MMOs, just like tons of people don’t like first person shooters or some people hate platformers. It’s not their thing and that’s fine. But dissing a game because it’s an MMO is kinda ridiculous.
That is all.
Honestly, the numbers are arbitrary and bear no indication of the quality of a Final Fantasy. If anything, XIV (haven’t played XI) deserves a main number more than the recent single player outings if we go by that logic.
XIII, while fun in its own right, was rather boring in terms of narrative and pacing; Crisis Core was not a main numbered title, but it was brilliant, just a great experience and fun to play, the gameplay was solid and the story was enjoyable; on the flip side, Dirge of Cerberus was pretty shit - I mean, I enjoyed it, but it obviously wasn’t a very good game. It simply didn’t play well as an action/shooter title.
Now look at XIV, granted 1.0 had its flaws - but again, this isn’t even what’s being argued about - it has everything that makes a great FF title: incredible lore, great narrative, a fantastic world that comes to life with characters that you can actually care for, and amazing music - quite a bit of which was composed by Nobuo Uematsu.
I haven’t felt as invested in a Final Fantasy as I have with XIV in a very long time. I mean, come on, End of an Era brought tears to my eyes. Answers is such a powerful theme song (infinitely better than My Hands :/)
It’s a little ironic considering FF is this amazing experience that we all want to share with like-minded people, but then hate on the titles that are MMOs…

Fuse This Video Contest!
Hey guys! Don’t know if you’ve heard, but Insomniac Games’ latest title is releasing on May 28 (May 30 in EU)! It’s called Fuse and it’s a four-player co-op shooter. It was originally titled Overstrike, but it’s gone through changes as most games do in development. The demo is out on PSN and XBL, and it’s hella fun, go give it a try! IG’s usual comic relief is infused into the game too, pardon the pun.
In lieu of its upcoming release, Insomniac launched a contest for its community, called Fuse This, where they challenged fans to create a minute-or-less trailer with either original material, or the assets they provided.
So that’s what I’ve spent the last six days working on. Lots of stressful moments, crash course in After Effects and all, but overall it was very fun and challenging to do. Thought I’d do some drawings and animate them in AE like an animated strip. So here’s my entry to the Fuse This contest!
If you liked and enjoyed it I’d really appreciate a vote! Just hit the orange vote button found on this page!
And don’t forget to check out everyone else’s submissions too. There are some really creative ones.
More about Fuse:
What happens when humans gain access to powerful alien technology they were never meant to have? When a volatile energy source called Fuse falls into the wrong hands, the CIA calls in an elite contact team to retrieve it: Overstrike 9. Join up to three friends in team-based co-op play as you take down the rogue paramilitary corporation behind the theft. Use lethal teamwork, coordinate devastating attacks, and provide cover for one another with fringe-tech weapons and gadgets. The unique LEAP feature lets you instantly shift from agent to agent during combat, allowing you to take advantage of each one’s special arsenal. You’ll need your teammates and their firepower to stop a global arms race from spinning out of control.
when you look over your writing from not that long ago and you’re like “wow this is crap I can think of like 15 ways to improve this”
i swear it just sneaks up on you
you remember feeling proud of it but you look over it later and it just feels like
The same totally goes for my art!
